Medimedia Animal Health | Journal Identity
Three distinct medical journals needed an updated design. I started with the main identity mark for each.
Main goal was to elevate the veterinary technician profession by presenting a refined image through the redesign. The word technician was given the main emphasis by using all capital letters, a strong color, and a larger proportional size. The word veterinary uses a 50% tint and placed above the main emphasis, technician. The result was a mark that is serious, credible, and professional.
Compendium is a well respected veterinary journal that includes 3 CE credits per CE article, along with additional educational, newsworthy, and practice management content. The new identity needed to appeal to a wide demographic of readers. It needed to look contemporary, sleek, and sophisticated. Since Compendium has been published for over 30 years, the target audience was already well aware of the continuing education component, so the tag line continuing education for veterinarians, which is part of the trademark, was de-emphasized.
For Compendium Equine, a relationship to the parent publication needed to be maintained. The word equine was emphasized in the identity. The result was an image that was able to compete, then excel against the competition in equestrian related journals.

Bayer HealthCare Animal Health | Educational Program Logo
Bayer Animal Health developed an educational series of CE courses for veterinarians who wished to increase the level of service in their practice. First impressions can make or break a relationship, so Bayer needed a program logo that would define exceptional service at a level above what is expected. The following three logos were presented. The first included a mark pointing up, similar to one on an elevator button. After completing each course, an individual reached a higher level of understanding. The second logo is more literal in portraying new heights in customer service. The third logo adds a human element to the program.
